The Oktoberfest attack of 26 September 1980 is the worst act of terrorism to have taken place on the soil of the Federal Republic of Germany. 40 years later, at 10:20 p.m., the Theresienwiese will be silent. An unusual moment, because normally the Wiesn is raging then. This year, on the evening of the day of remembrance, the crime scene is a scene of remembrance, the focus is on the voices of the survivors. First we will hear them in an excerpt from Christine Umpfenbach’s documentary theatre piece “9/26 Das Oktoberfest-Attentat”, performed on site by actors* from the Münchner Kammerspiele. Afterwards we will see the short documentary by the DGB Youth Munich “In the fight against forgetting. Remembering the Oktoberfest assassination in 1980”. In different formats and from different perspectives, we will jointly ask the question: what does remembering the Oktoberfest assassination mean?

Only a few seats are available. Admission is free, but advance registration at the Münchner Kammerspiele box office is mandatory.

If you are a survivor or affected person, you will be given priority in the allocation of tickets. Please let us know if you wish to be given priority.
