Barbi Marković

Barbi Marković, born in Belgrade in 1980, studied German literature. In 2009, Marković caused a sensation with the Thomas Bernhard remix novel “Ausgehen”. In 2016, she published the novel “Superheldinnen”, for which she received the Alpha Literature Prize, the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize and the Reinhard Priessnitz Prize in 2019. In 2017, Barbi Marković read at the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. In 2023, Barbi Marković received the Berlin Art Prize for Literature. Most recently published by Residenz Verlag: “Die verschissene Zeit” (2021) and “Minihorror” (2023). In “Minihorror”, Barbi Marković creates a monument of perfidy and compassion for the fearful workers of our society, which makes us feel both caught and understood when we read it. She was awarded the Price of the Leipzig Book Fair for “Minihorror” in 2024.
