Tanya Kargaeva

Tanya Kargaeva Ukrainian actress, puppeteer, drama teacher and performance artist. She was born in Mariupol and graduated from the National University of Theatre, Film and Television in Kyiv in 2009. Studied at ALBA Technique in New York (2015) and Jan Fabre Teaching Group in Antwerp (2017 and 2022). Tanya Kargaewa has played leading roles in feature films, television series and stage productions in Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, the UK, Kazakhstan and Finland. The video installations Garden and Mono by artist Sasha Pirogova, in which Tanya participated, took part in the Venice Art Biennale and the Future Generation Art Prize at PinchukArtCenter in Kyiv. In 2018 she took part in the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of The Creatures of Prometheus (conducted by Vladimir Yurovsky). Winner of the Best Female Role Award of the International Theatre Festival Homo Ludens (2011) and the Best Female Role of the National Theatre Festival Premiers of the Season (2014). After moving to Germany in 2022, she received grants from the Berlin Senate and the Goethe-Institut/Artist At Risk to run theatre education programmes for children and adults in Berlin.
