Intimacy Quarterly Playground

For this episode, we have invited the lyricist and theater maker Jan Geiger and Josh Neumann aka Mindsight. Mindsight is one of Munich’s most exciting electronic music projects at the moment, combining atmospheric sounds with cheerful soundscapes and deconstructed beats. At Playground we experiment with various (electronic) music tools, with Blockhead, Ableton, Midi keyboard, microphone and Launchpad.

Jan is part of the Münchner Theatertexter*innen network, co-director of PATHOS theater and a lyricist. So he is constantly working with text and, according to his own statement, he prefers to do this in a team. This is also the case with this edition of the Playground: we understand writing as a collective process and learn tools to become productive ourselves.

The course of the evening is the same as always: we start together, get to know each other, arrive, then we split into two groups: One dedicated to music with Josh, the other to lyrics with Jan. After about an hour and a short break, we start the jam and bring together text and music elements in improvisations.

Josh and Jan are both active in the socio-cultural/activist environment: Josh as part of various collectives and alliances (Freiräumen / Common Ground), Jan has worked for many years in the gay-queer center Sub. In addition to the artistic aspects, the workshop will also deal with questions such as: How does social coexistence take shape?

What are the possibilities for individuals to express themselves and be active?

The workshop is free of charge, no previous knowledge is necessary.

You are also welcome to come by later to listen or have a drink.

There is limited equipment available on site, but you are welcome to bring your own device/instrument.
