The magazine project Rainbow Refugees (Stories) is celebrating its 5th anniversary and invites you to an exhibition and talk. Moderated by Ifunanya Concilia Dimaku, Kehinde Honest Riliwan and Edward Mutebi, former participants of the project, reflect on the past years. They will not only share their personal stories and experiences as queer refugees in Germany, but also explore topics such as democracy, diversity and inclusion together. This will be followed by a dance performance by Anmol Pari.

Admission is 17:00, start of the live program: 18:00.

Ifunanya Concilia Dimaku is a queer doctor and scientist who lives in Emmering. She is originally from Nigeria and lived in Belarus and Berlin for her studies. Ifunanya is a volunteer with “Doctors of the World” and is currently completing a full-time German course. In her free time, she works artistically with “spoken words” and writes poetry. Ifunanya is also an activist and focuses on healing trauma through meditation and nature.

Kehinde Honest Riliwan, originally from Nigeria, now lives in Selb with her 9-year-old son. Kehinde is completing an apprenticeship in logistics there. In her free time, she enjoys sports, singing and dancing. Kehinde believes that discrimination and strained family relationships are a major problem for queer refugees. She is interested in sharing her life experiences as a migrant in Germany.

Edward Mutebi is a queer and Ugandan activist living in Berlin. He is the founder and chairman of “Let’s Walk Uganda” and a member of “Queer Emergency Uganda”. With a master’s degree in social work, he now works in the field of human rights. There, he advocates for more housing and support for queer refugees and focuses on addressing the needs of survivors of abuse.

The Rainbow Refugees (Stories) project was initiated in 2019 and presents the stories of 27 LGBTQIA+ refugees who are persecuted in their home countries because of their sexual orientation or identity. More information about the project at www.rainbowrefugeesstories.com
