TAF (Türkisch-Armenische Freundschaft)

The performance band TAF (Turkish-Armenian Friendship) was founded in 2022 by Gülbin Ünlü and Veronica Burnuthian. Both are known for their work combining visual art and music. Expanded by Erol Dizdar and illustrious guests, TAF move in the tradition of music-historical necromancy. Their sound is infused with post-SciFi Orient vibes and links contemporary influences with echoes of their own musical memories. These are also the source of the band’s namesake reference to the legendary post-punk duo DAF (Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundschaft), who sweetened the Cold War for the pre-nuclear generation.

TAF’s transformative power of collective expression is a cry for the Dreamers, the Seekers and the Rebels of the post-everything era. And so they send us on a trip across the boundaries of convention. Dadaist in essence and anarchic in spirit, TAF defy categorization and embody the interdisciplinary post-everything - a fusion of past, present and future. TAF send signals of the resilience of friendship and solidarity in the midst of cultural and political complexities. Here, the familiar becomes new and the impossible becomes reality.
