Water, Earth and I: Omaagomaan ist non-binär und entspringt der Erdkruste

Omaagomaan is non-binary, consists of mercury and originates from the earth’s crust. Waawaate Fobister embodies an iridescent being in which maanaadizi (ugly) and onizishi (beautiful) meet. Inspired by the cosmology of the Anishinabe, one of the largest indigenous groups in North America, the dance solo responds to the massive mercury poisoning of the Grassy Narrows in Ontario/Canada caused by a pulp and paper mill in the 1960s and 70s, the consequences of which continue to this day.
