Paula Schlagbauer
Paula Schlagbauer holds a BA in stage design from the Berlin University of the Arts and studied directing at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. She has assisted and interned with Ersan Mondtag, Stefan Pucher, Nurkan Erpulat, Jan Gockel, Julia Kurzweg, and Barbara Ehnes, among others. In the 2020/21 season, her first play, Chickenfilet mit rose, premiered at the Cammerspiele Leipzig, and she was invited to the 35th Meeting of Young Authors and the Close-Up section of the International Berlin Literature Festival with the text for Chickenfilet. She is a scholarship holder of the 21st International Schillertage at the NT Mannheim and was part of the master class of the Ruhrtriennale 2024 and the master class of the Radikal Jung Festival 2025. With her collective Grizzly und Leo Productions, she was Artist in Residence at the Goethe Institute Thessaloniki in 2022. Since the 24/25 season, she has been directing the youth club “Tusch” at the Munich Kammerspiele, where she also curates the series “Philosophical Monologues.”
In July 2023, she staged the play “Metzger in Masken” at the Volkstheater Munich.
In May 2024, she directed “Totenüberlebung” by Jona Spreter at the Kammerspiele Munich.
Her thesis project, “Bavarokratie,” premiered on March 19, 2025, at the Kammerspiele Munich, was invited to the Körber Studio junge Regie, and is on the shortlist for the 2025 Prague Theater Festival.
