Theatre: How inclusive can it be?

In recent years, inclusive art practice has emerged from its niche and is increasingly being treated as a matter of course both in publicly funded city and state theatres and by audiences. But what actually is inclusive art? Which criteria do we apply and who defines them? How can collaborative artistic work be accomplished? What needs to change in order to dismantle barriers and allow new, surprising associations and perspectives?

We want to discuss these questions with Barbara Mundel (artistic director of the Münchner Kammerspiele), Anna Mülter (head of Theaterformen), Ben Evans (British Council and Europe Beyond Access) and Georg Kasch (journalist). The panel will be hosted by Luisa Wöllisch (actor, Münchner Kammerspiele) and others.

Before the discussion, Wolfram Lotz (writer) and Linda Fisahn (actor) will be sharing impressions and thoughts from their artistic practice.

We cordially invite you to join the conversation, share your questions and impressions and watch the performance together. The discussion will be taking place in the German spoken language with translations into German sign language and the English spoken language.

The German Federal Cultural Foundation is organising the panel discussion as part of “pik – Programme for Inclusive Art Practice”. With “pik”, the German Federal Cultural Foundation promotes artistic projects in the theatre and supports artists with disabilities to gain further professional qualifications via cross-disciplinary scholarships. The intention is to discover new artistic possibilities and bring them visibility.
