On October 7, 2023, the worst nightmares of the Jewish world became reality with Hamas’ terrorist invasion of Israel. Due to the subsequent war in Israel and Gaza and the increasingly anti-Semitic public in the diaspora, it is impossible to predict what the future holds, but one thing seems clear: Everything is at stake now. In the project “Writing about ‘The Situation’” by the Institute for New Social Sculpture, Israeli and diasporic playwrights and writers Lena Gorelik, Julya Rabinowich, Hadar Galron, Avishai Milstein and Roy Chen will continuously write new literary texts between October 2023 and October 2024 about a present characterized by uncertainty and pain. A reading of the texts with actors will take place approximately every two months. On April 8, the actors of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble will perform the new texts for the second time, followed by a paneldisscusion moderated by Dr. Rachel Salamander. The reading will be framed by projections of Israeli art created after the massacre.

The event is supported by the Federal Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight against Anti-Semitism, Dr. Felix Klein, and by the Embassy of the State of Israel in Germany.
