Simple and complex, delicate and grotesque, brutal and contradictory. The focus of C la Vie is our way of life - today and now in this world. With an energetic, expressive choreography for seven dancers, vocals and percussion, Serge Aimé Coulibaly creates a contemporary initiation story.

The nine performers meet on stage - a public space where anything can happen and nothing is lost. As they embark on this initiatory journey, they invite us to witness the disappearance of the old world. No initiation is possible without experiencing the instability of the world, even if only temporarily.

In this story told without words, there is no long series of different obstacles and no hero to overcome them, but a single great challenge: how to be together? At the heart of C la Vie is the encounter - with music, with the other, with reality, with time, with the planet, with a loved one … The only thing that counts is the event of the encounter and the desire to connect with the world.

Serge Aimé Coulibaly, who began his career as a dancer with Alain Platel, works and lives between Burkina Faso, France and Belgium. His expressive choreographies, with which he successfully tours worldwide, are always created on both continents. Following the successful production “Les statues rêvent aussi. Vision of a Return”, co-directed with Jan-Christoph Gockel, Coulibaly returns to the Münchner Kammerspiele with the new choreography of his own dance company and will remain associated with the Kammerspiele in the future.

A production of Faso Danse Théâtre in co-production with Charleroidanse (BE), Münchner Kammerspiele (DE), Kampnagel Hamburg (DE), Tanz im August Berlin (DE), La Rampe-La Ponatière Echirolles (FR), Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg (LU), Festival RomaEuropa (IT), Festival Culturescapes Basel (CH), KVS- Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg Brussels (BE), Festspielhaus Sankt-Pölten (AT).
