Natalka Vorozhbyt

Natalka Vorozhbyt is a playwright and screenwriter. Together with the German director Georg Zheno she founded the Theater of the Displaced, where refugees from Donbas can tell their stories. She is curator of the festivals “Doncult” and “GOGOLFEST” and one of the founders of the festival “Week of actual play”. Her plays were staged in Ukrainian theaters (Wild Theater, Kyiv Young Theater and the Drama and Comedy Theater on the left bank of the Dnipro, Chernihiv Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Taras Shevchenko), in Russia, Great Britain, Poland, the USA and Latvia. Also, she collaborated with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2004 received the Literary Prize “Eureka” for the play “Galka Motalko”. In 2020 received Film Club Prize Verona for the film “Bad Roads” and “Film Circle” Opening of the Year” Award for the film “Bad Roads”. Also, in 2020 she received the “Women in Arts Award” for contribution to the film and theatre industries. In 2021 she received Oleksandr Dovzhenko State Prize of Ukraine for outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema.
