Anastasiia Kosodii

Anastasiia Kosodii is a playwright and director based in Kyiv (Ukraine). Her plays have been read and performed in theatres across Ukraine and Europe. As a playwright and cultural manager she works regularly with NGOs in Eastern Ukraine in towns on the front line of the war between Ukraine and Russia.  

Kosodii started her career as co-founder of theatre “Zaporizhzhian new drama” (Zaporizka nova drama) in her hometown Zaporizhzhia. In 2017 Anastasiia became a member of the project “Krieg im Frieden”, organised by Gorki Theatre (Berlin) and Literarisches Colloquium Berlin. The play “Timetraveller’s guide to Donbas”, written during this project, was performed in Studio Я in October 2018.

In 2019 Kosodii became a chief playwright in the PostPlay theatre in Kyiv. Also in 2019 her play “Timetraveller’s guide to Donbas” was performed at the Lesi Ukrainki Theatre in Lviv (Ukraine). That year Anastasiia also was one of playwrights of the project “City To Go”, produced in three cities of Donetsk and Lugansk region (Bakhmut, Popasna, Mykolaivka) with kids in local schools.

In 2021, together with Natalka Vorozhbyt, Anastasiia worked as playwright on the project “Crimea 5am”, an international project dedicated to political prisoners. Its purpose is to draw the attention of Ukrainian and international society to human rights violations in the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula.
