Barbora Šulniute

Barbora Šulniute is a visual artist, set and costume designer born in Vilnius in 1991. In 2015 she graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Arts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in set design and is currently studying contemporary sculpture there. Since her first theatre production in 2015, she has created sets for over twenty productions at various stages in Lithuania and Europe, including the Lithuanian National Theatres in Vilnius and Kaunas, as well as the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Vaba Lava Theatre in Tallinn (Estonia) and the Theater Freiburg. Since 2018, Barbora Šulniute has worked continuously with director Kamilė Gudmonaitė. 

Her set design for the production “12 Grams to the North” was nominated for the theatre award “Golden Stage Cross” in 2019; for her set design of the production “Iranian Conference” she received the award for best set design at the Dalios Tamuleviciutes Festival in 2020. At Münchner Kammerspiele, Barbora Šulniute develops the set design for the production “Xáta - Home” in the 2023/24 season.
