Kamilė Gudmonaitė

Kamilė Gudmonaitė, born in 1992, studied directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius. Since her debut in 2014, Gudmonaitė has directed in Germany at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and at the Theater Freiburg, as well as in Lithuania at the Vaba Lava theatre (Tallinn). She is active as a singer and songwriter in the duo kamanių šilelis. In her work, Gudmonaitė deals with the themes of mental health, grief, sexuality, gender and disability. Her recent works combine documentary, musical and drama and involve both professional actors and amateurs. Her productions have been shown at various festivals across Europe. In 2018, her production “Trans trans trance” was invited to the RADAR OST Festival at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. In 2022, Gudmonaitė won the prize for the best young European theatre director (Premio Europeo Giuseppe Bertollucci) at the Teatro Argentina in Rome. In the 2023/24 season, she will direct “Xáta - Zuhause”, a choral project with Russians and Ukrainians, at Münchner Kammerspiele.
