The “Día de la Visibilidad Lésbica” was celebrated for the first time in 2008 by the Spanish LGBTIQ* organization FELGTBI+. Since then, it has also been held every year in Germany and other countries. The aim of the day is to make lesbian women more visible in society and to celebrate lesbian diversity, history and culture.

To mark this day, we are focusing on issues surrounding lesbian parenthood. Parenthood is generally associated with many norms and social expectations. Images of women and femininity flow into it, as does heteronormativity. How do these issues change when two women are the parents instead of the heterosexual family image?

Presenter Kathi Roeb, former host of the “Welcome to the Club” podcast, talks to Stephanie Gerlach from the Rainbow Family Center and a representative of the L’OUT!er Mothers association.
