Who founded the Münchner Kammerspiele in 1911? Who appeared on the stage? Whose photographs appeared in magazines and which photographers took them? Who translated foreign-language plays into German? And who disappeared from the theatre and its memory after 1933?

Since 2018, Janne and Klaus Weinzierl, together with dramaturge Martin Valdés-Stauber, have been researching the SCHICKSALE of Kammerspiele employees who were persecuted, disenfranchised and murdered during the Nazi era. Well over 300 such SCHICKSALE are now known and are recalled to the memory of the city’s history and the theatre at various events.

On 16 December, Janne and Klaus Weinzierl will take a look at the theatre’s protagonists in conversation with Felicitas Friedrich: Associates, actresses, photographers, translators and authors. How does the history of the Münchner Kammerspiele theatre look when told from a female perspective?
