Our Digital Academy is an open series of talks on the most important questions for the future of cities, about what far-reaching decisions now being made. We bring together supra-regional and local initiators whose ideas we exchange in small discussion groups open to all.

To launch the Digital Academy What is the City?, we are asking some of the most visionary cultural politicians of the Corona era to talk to us in cooperation with the Süddeutsche Zeitung: Carsten Brosda (Hamburg Senator for Culture and President of the German Stage Association), Veronica Kaup-Hasler (City Councillor for Culture of the City of Vienna) and the Second Mayor of Munich, Kathrin Habenschaden, will address the question of what impact Corona has had on cultural policy and which cities are developing particularly good approaches. What are best practice examples? But also: what are the possibilities and limits of budgetary policy?

The conversation, which will be moderated by Alex Rühle (SZ) and can be viewed via live stream on the Kammerspiele homepage, is primarily about an exchange of experiences and positive examples, so that we can learn from each other in these difficult times. Viewers can ask questions about the ongoing conversation under #whatisthecity.

Open exchange via zoom after the talk
After a short break following the expert talk, viewers can discuss the impulses they have just heard in small discussion groups. Moderated by the dramaturges of the Münchner Kammerspiele, the results of these small table discussions will be summarised in a joint final round at the end.
