Ji Hyung Nam

Ji Hyung Nam, born in 1989 in Seoul, South Korea, completed her studies in stage and costume design (Dipl.) at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in 2019 as a master’s student under Prof. Katrin Brack. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in interior design from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul.

In November 2019, she was honored as an artist for the START-UP project at the European Patent Office for her diploma thesis “Eve, Adam, and the Pear.” Starting in September 2019, she worked as a set design assistant at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Ji Hyung Nam has collaborated with directors such as Jacqueline Reddington, Marie Schleef, Caroline Kapp, the artist collective Laokoon, and Caner Akdeniz. Her work has been presented at the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the European Patent Office, the Lange Nacht der Neuen Dramatik in Munich, the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, and the OUTNOW! Festival at Theater Bremen. At the Münchner Kammerspiele, Ji Hyung Nam designed the set for “Die Möglichkeit des Bösen” during the 2023/24 season. She will return to the MK in the 2025/26 season with “(Münchner) Verkehr.”
