Four people meet for the first time at dinner. Of very different political and cultural backgrounds, they vigorously discuss belonging, gender equality, discriminatory language, and religion. Six actors re-enact these conflict-ridden conversations. The Canadian theater company Porte Parole uses long-term projects to explore polarizing attitudes and the limits of paying attention to what other people are saying in an irascible society. And the audience will also get to have their say.

Video adaptation: Mehdi Moradpour, Jake Witlen
Video and live performance
We remain gritty.

Four people meet for dinner for the first time. Politically, professionally and culturally, they come from the most diverse backgrounds. They have energetic discussions about belonging, gender equality, discriminating language and religion, and also address controversial statements made by one other person. Six actors interpret these conflict-laden discussions.

In this digital version of ‘The Assembly’, viewers can experience an emotional evening full of suspense curves and surprising alliances – and meet one another live as well. This is because audience participation in the digital space is an integral part of the production.
