Four (Austrian) drama students from the Otto Falckenberg School, along with one graduate, will gather this evening in the workshop at the Münchner Kammerspiele to explore the theme of their homeland.

The Austrian lunch table is a place and an occasion where people come together to eat and drink, discussing, telling stories and singing songs.

It is about the feeling of homesickness and, on the one hand, being proud of one’s homeland, whilst on the other hand feeling somewhat strange about it.

During this musical evening, songs by Austrian legends will be unearthed: Schubert, Hans Moser, Ludwig Hirsch, Wolfgang Ambros, Hubert von Goisern, Voodoo Jürgens, and many more. Moving from authors such as Thomas Bernhard, Ernst Jandl and Elfriede Jelinek, we’ll explore our own texts and stories that speak of home, homesickness and patriotism. The aim is to examine how long one must scratch beneath the beautiful surface of home before less beautiful things come to light.
