In the 24/25 season, authors from the Netzwerk Münchner Theatertexter*innen (NMT) are offering open writing workshops. How does it work to assert oneself? How can I assert a reality through writing? In various thematic focuses, we work together on texts ranging from sci-fi to collective texts to the assertion of a world that is never as it should be, that should never be, or how everything could be different
Assertion is the great power of the world machine that is theater.

Anything can be claimed. So, let’s get started. Let’s assert. Let’s hypothesize texts and explore their effect. Let’s allow ourselves to be seduced, flattered and drawn into pages. Let’s use words and sentences to create a world into which we can escape, in which we can indulge. Let us call it a counter-world that is no less appreciated. Let’s put a sentence at the beginning, the rest will follow. How about “Three multi-billionaires meet at the bar.”? Or let’s answer the question “Does evil smell of roses?”

In light of the current performance schedule, we will take an inquisitive look at “Balau”, Serge Coulibaly’s choreography based on and with texts by the writer Fiston Mwanza Mujila, and be inspired by sentences such as “I give the bride and groom the right to vomit”. Also: What does text do to the body, what does the body do to the text? Does he understand anything about poetry in the end?

It will be about breaking down barriers when writing. Does it work better together than alone? We will look at examples of texts from the NMT’s collective writing projects and talk about cooperative writing experiences. What effects do constant changes of direction have on a text, and how can we deal with this openness? Everything can be claimed, and this is not always beneficial, but sometimes what we come up with together comes very close to the truth.

Participants will receive exclusive 5€ tickets for the production “Balau” on 21.2.2025
