Jelena Kuljić

Jelena Kuljić was born in 1976 in Serbia and completed her studies in Jazz Singing at the Jazz Institute Berlin in 2008. Along with her own bands, KUU! (ACTmusic), and Z-Country Paradise,  Kuljić has been a featured guest in many musical projects, such as Y Move (MinorMusic), Fasil (ECM), Paul Brody’s Sadawi (enja), etc. As a musician and a performer, she has worked extensively with David Marton appearing in many of his plays including Wozzeck, Das wohltemperierte Klavier (The Well-Tempered Clavier), Harmonia Caelestis and Das Schottenstück (The Scottish Play). (Volksbühne Berlin, Burgtheater Wien and Schaubühne Berlin) She worked with the director Constanza Macras in Forest: The Nature of Crisis and in On Fire. Jelena has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Münchner Kammerspiele since the 2015/2016 season.

In 2022 she was nominated for the German Jazz Award as vocal of the year, and she won JTI Jazz Award as an artist of the year.
