The Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, in cooperation with the Münchner Kammerspiele, is hosting an MK: Campus in the Lenbachhaus Studio. The program refers to the story of the Munich-Togo production “Les statues rêvent aussi. Vision of a return”. In the play, the statue of the West African princess Yennenga (12th century) comes to life in an ethnological museum in Munich and, together with the postcolonial ghost hunter CyCy, sets off to find her colonial past.

This weekend will explore the relationship between memory and object, as well as the question of ownership and memory from different perspectives. Three artists whose practice ties in with these questions will question the participants themselves in workshops and offer possibilities for activation. The two exhibitions which can be seen at the Lenbachhaus at this time will become research pools, the meeting with those involved in the production at the Münchner Kammerspiele an inspiring encounter, and a visit to the Museum Fünf Kontinente a search for traces.
